If you haven’t managed to stumble across Perfume Genius’ (Mike Hadreas) new track, Queen yet, then now is your chance. Mike Hadreas’ earlier work on Put Your Back N 2 It and Learning, focused almost entirely on, gentle, heartbreaking, piano tones, fused together with Hadreas’ broken down vocals.
But on Queen, Handreas declares enough, as deep synth tones make their first ever appearance on a Perfume Genius track, riding the aggressive tone of Queen’s lyrics and their message. The clever reference Hadreas’ makes to an early backlashe to the advert for his second album, Put Your Back N 2 It, with “No family is safe, when I sashay”, as the album trailer was deemed ‘Not safe for family viewing’ as Hadreas’ embraces, the now dead pornstar, Arpad Miklos.
Queen is the first single taken from the upcoming 3rd, Perfume Genius LP, ‘Too Bright’, and is set to be released on the 22nd of September. The ‘unsafe’ advert for Handreas’ second LP, is down below.
