Track three of five from the Lost In The Night EP, I Want What You Got is exactly what you’ll be saying come October if you don’t grab a copy of Palace’s debut.
A nostalgia trip for those who grew up on classic blues music and not The White Stripes, I Want What You Got feels optimistically loving, with repeating riffs, flickering across the entire scale, as Leo’s lyrics take centre stage for a promise of un-reputed love.
You’re my fire/my spark/my saviour, you light up the dark.
As common as it is in blues for a song to carry itself continuously on the same motion, Palace’s modern interpretation sees their indie rock influences fusing in, as (only momentarily) solos fragrance I Want What You Got, with the common ideologies that we’re beginning to associate Palace with.
Taken from Palace’s debut EP, ‘Lost In The Night’, due to be released 20th October on Beatnik Creative.
