Hardcore music has always been a difficult genre to discuss. Whether it’s the howling lyrics or screeching guitars, not much feels different in this ever changing genre. Lorient’s Death Engine however, are one of the few, breaking and redefining this mould.
The deliberate focus on disparately noise core influences, on top of the hardcore style that Cure creates a path of destruction with, has always been lost in recent years from well practised hardcore bands. The constant onslaught of battered guitars and savage vocals, is only relieved for a short moment, where a minor breakdown focuses in on Mik’s vocals, before again erupting into a destructive display of hardcore performed, to the highest degree.
Death Engine’s debut LP, Mud, is out March 2nd, containing the first single from Mud, Still.
