Maybe The Moon – Hammers See Nails

Self-described as ‘2 lovers making noise’, Karmen Kimball and Alex Lasner’s work resonates Brooklyn based band Sleigh Bells on their lighter tracks, as well as the electronic settings of Alunageorge on their second track, Hammers See Nails. Pieced together with piercing vocals and equally beguiling synth keys, this Bay side duo create a synonymous relation to the alluring voices of the night, found in most modern thrillers. While Kimball’s voice remains soft in tone, executed perfectly, the partnership with Lasner’s dark, synth work, creates a much greater sense of malevolence to the lyrics of Hammers See Nails. While the meaning behind the Bay side duo’s lyrics is open for interpretation, it’d be safer to stick to enjoying this duo’s intriguing work, rather than falling to the haunting whispers of Kimball’s voice.
