Recently signed to !k7 records, Rust is the debut track from the collaborative project Akase. Simplistic in its production flow, Rust plays upon the cool factor of modern r ‘n’ b and post-house beats that earned James Blake his stellar reputation as an underground hero back in the late 2000’s. For Midland, Rust is a rather different take on his usual techno, two-step beats. While his style may still be apparent on Rust, the r ‘n’ b tone set from the pace of the beat as well as the accompaniment of Redway’s vocals, creates one of Midland’s finest tracks to date.
