Further electronic sways from the duo of Karmen Kimball and Alex Lasner, now turning lighter on their latest track, Washout. It’s always an intriguing position to place a track with shimmering, glossy layered electronics with lyrics that don’t quite match up. While the electronic display from Alex is as beautiful as ever, it’s Karmen’s voice that creates a masterful disguise for Washout’s lyrics, seeming to grow stronger on each track, now moving closely to the likes of Rhye (Milosh), Cherry Glazerr (Clementine) and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s (Karen O). The combination of Alex’s electronic skills and Karmen’s vocal display is an ever-growing, winning partnership.
