In case the title of this post hasn’t given it away, two years ago to this date, Velvet Independent was created.
I want to begin immediately, by saying thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has shown this site attention, love and shared, liked, retweeted and anything else in a form of sharing Velvet with the world. I honestly cannot say thank you enough.
This time last year, Velvet had just passed 8000 views, beating my goal for my first year. Now as it currently stands, we’re over 23,000 views, which is (for me at least) amazing.
For Velvet’s second year I hadn’t set any real goals, as the beginning of the year was ‘complicated for me’ which has shown on the lack of posts in comparison to around 500 in 2014, and only just over 100 this year.
For that I apologise sincerely as I’ve deprived you all of such amazing music that has been there in bucket loads.
So, for the rest of the year, as a way to play catch up, I’m going to be featuring songs that I’ve forgotten from earlier on through the year. There’ll be a new category on the new music bar, just for the rest of 2015 titled ‘Catch Up’. I’m hoping with this, that I’ll be able to share music with you, that may have passed your attention. So it’s a second wind for me, you and the artists that I’ll be writing about.
If all goes to plan, there’ll be around 40+ catch up posts, including albums as well as singles for the rest of the year.
I’m hoping that in 2016 things will be back to normal, and if so the target is at least 20 posts a month and a personal aim of 50,000+ views (here’s hoping!).
Again, thank you for continuing to view Velvet as a source of new music. Thank you to everyone who sends me music to review (apologies to those who I have forgotten throughout the year). Thank you to everyone who has helped encourage me to produce posts to share. Thank you to my family and friends for helping me out this year.
All I can say is thank you (I mean it’s been said a few times already), and I hope I can continue producing a website that will flourish into something truly amazing.
