The Academic – Mixtape 2003

With enough contemporary charm and nostalgic buzz, to keep the most unique of indie music lovers happy, these Irish rockers show that to move forward, it helps to take a look back ever so often.

There’s an immediate flare in The Academic style of indie rock, which is impossible not to love. The throw back to early Cribs, mixed with the crowd friendly vibes of Tribes is endearing to experience, whether you blare it out from a set of Bose’s or your car’s speakers. Mixtape 2003 draws upon fuzzed up guitars, that are completely unapologetic about using reverb. Instead, they come fully loaded with riffs that celebrate the joy of boisterous, energetic summers, with crowds roaring along, to this soon to be crowd favourite.
