Melbourne artist Will Cuming’s latest track Holla, flows with wickedly quick beats and enough ‘cool’ to throw off SOHN.
The similarities between the two artists, stem from the shared approach to rapidly adapting electronica music. LANKS previous EP Banquet played with a series of emotionally variant states, channelling the broken state of SOHN’s lyrics, while then playing on cool deepwave, r’n’b beats.
Holla’s own creation pieces together LANKS’ previously deep-set emotions, with traditional ballad styled pianos anchoring its verses, while manipulated vocals of HOLLA ring out to rapid finger work. A series of robotic cries together with gritty bass, eases the serious nature of LANKS’ lyrics, balancing out Holla perfectly as an emotional dance track for nu-dance/house clubs everywhere.
