Taken from his 2016 LP, Toothpick, San Francisco artist Kai Straw reveals the music video to the vulnerable Hurricane.
You’d be confused if someone told you that someone humming for the first minute of their track is almost hypnotising, yet on Hurricane it works. Kai Straw’s defragmented video is a straight in the eye look at vulnerability, staring straight into the lens as panels of Straw slowly collide together for a moment of clarity towards the latter end. With an influx of brooding emotion that culminates from the alluring croons, Hurricane’s alternative take on conflicting vulnerability is refreshing both to watch and hear, as neither Hurricane nor Straw relies upon traditional conventions, aspiring for a more poignant note that stems from unquestionable creativity instead.
