The first track penned under her moniker of Skott, the Swedish artist brings us her second track of 2017, with the artistry of mermaid.
With a supporting slot throughout MØ’s UK tour and a date with Phantogram in August, the break between Mermaid and previous release Glitter & Gloss has found Skott carving her way into the inevitable stardom sought out for her since her first releases last year.
Just as Wolf began with solitary piano keys to welcome in Skott’s vocals, Mermaid follows suit, with the welcome addition of a delicately plucked harp, which only further elevates the pedestal of which Skott stands upon once she exposes her full vocal range, which remains as stunningly beautiful to experience as ever.
Just as she has done with her previous tracks, Skott leaves no doubt that she is an unstoppable presence, with her vision and artistry flowing through Mermaid with tremendous power. The only question left to ask Skott is when an album can be expected for us all to fall so similarly in love with.
