Holy ’57 captures the beauty of sunrise and sunset skies on the second track from the L, mini-LP, Canary.
When music creates clear imagery in your mind, it’s often a sign of a song well crafted and planned out meticulously. Alex Mankoo’s love of world music and his youthful pop sound have never clashed together through the limitations that strict genre definitions would have set in place, but rather delightfully come together in a constant beautiful fashion. Canary is a simple enough track to understand that Mankoo’s influences are anything but simple, as funk grooves meet up together with the calming blues/jazz brass section to create a free flowing pop track that in relying on non-pop influences, becomes an ever so more enjoyable pop track.
Holy ’57’s mini album, L, is out this October.
