Synth pop newcomers Fanclub, are already onto to something special with their debut Leaves.
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Fanclub are a three piece caught between indie and indie pop, best described as a cross between Jasmine Sankaran, Fans and TNAF; DIY indie at its finest with a glossy synth undertone. Consisting of Leslie Crunkilton on vocals, Mike Lee on lead guitar (also the band’s founder) and Daniel Schmidt on percussion, Fanclub’s original goal was for Mike to record cover albums with an ever changing list of musicians to be featured across each different LP. Thankfully, after writing tracks together, Leslie and Mike realised that creating their own music would be much more fun for everyone involved.
As their first track to be released, the soft edge of Leaves playing with DIY synths and crunchy guitar riffs creates a union of synth pop and indie rock, superimposed onto one another so both are clearly identifiable, the expression of multiple ideas being shared together has a clear reflection on who Fanclub are as a three piece, with all ideas being shared equally making for some fantastic music.
