In collaboration with Leeds venue, The Lending Room, we’ll be sharing some of their most exciting upcoming gigs with some soon to be personal favourites. This week, we’re bringing you Matlock’s answer to new-age funk, Patawawa.
The funk and trop-pop trio are out on their first ever tour this year, having released a slew of singles this year already. They’ll be visiting Leeds’ Lending Room next Thursday (October 4th) with support from Snicklefritz, Everyday People and Tyni, a collection of dreampop, house and electro-pop styles to heat up the floor for an evening of funk-disco styled dancing. Patawawa’s most recent single, Fight Me, is packed to the brim with light funk grooves, clever guitar hooks and string sections which puts the disco track on level with success of indie poppers Fickle Friends; while their most popular track to date, Patagonia, having just surpassed over 1,000,000 streams on Spotify alone, is a brightly shining, delightfully slippery piece of indie-pop that feels a like a lost Yeasayer track from their Odd Blood period.
If fiercely lit disco/funk, masquerading as pure indie pop sounds like heaven to you, give Patawawa a play and get ready to sing a long on October 4th.
For fans of: Fickle Friends, Friendly Fires, All We Are, Yeasayer, Cut and Copy.
