Following their recent return with ‘Losing My Mind’ LA four piece Oyster Kids, give us another taste of what they’ve been brewing up over the past few years, this time with the erratic energy of ‘Breathe’.
Carrying on with their interpellated narratives, Oyster Kids focus in on the idea of giving yourself a moment between takes, pressing restart and being unafraid to reach for what you really want. ‘Breathe’ presses restart on the steadier pace of ‘Losing My Mind’, this time going for high energy pop music that could easily find itself on a number of TV shows, similar to the style of fellow LA group courtship.
Oyster Kids’ maturity remains their strongest asset however, balancing fast, upbeat rhythms with powerful lyricism for pop music that sounds as if it’s come from a band who already have a decade of experience behind them. On ‘Breathe’ the LA four piece show no signs of letting up with new music, which we all should be thankful for.
