Totnes born, London based singer-songwriter and MC Phoenix Laoutaris shares her debut single ‘Flowers’.
A current BIMM student and the first female signing to new Sony imprint WEAREBLK (a label focusing on developing artists across hip hop, UK rap, drill, grime, afrobeat, afro swing and R&B), at just 19 years old Phoenix is already making big waves in the UK industry. On ‘Flowers’ Phoenix demonstrates her skill at blending genres; seamlessly merging drill and grime beats to the flow of R’n’B, similarly to fellow London based artists Joy Crookes or Jorja Smith, while bringing across more grit with her MC’ing.
Speaking on the new single, Phoenix explains “The song pinpoints a moment and time in my life when I was coming to terms with the reality of relationships. That you can’t always trust what feels real. I’ve always been independent but I learnt to never put your independence onto another soul.
