Oxford’s Low Island discuss online, hopeless romanticism on ‘I Do It For You’.
Featuring additional production from lauded electronic artist Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, ‘I Do It For You’ transmutes from the groups intricate indie style into a sophisticated, calculated concoction of math-rock and indietronica. The taut drums, solid bass and Carlos Posada’s languid vocals are the only constants of Low Island’s usual style, as Orlando Higginbottom’s production conjures up an air of unpredictability throughout the track.
Speaking about the track, vocalist Carlos Posada shared: “This song is about someone recognising that they’re dutifully putting everything into a relationship that is fundamentally doomed, all for the sake of the ‘idea’ of love, rather than the person themselves.”
The congruous flow of ‘I Do If For You’ plays out as the hopeless lover, blind to the indifference of their counterpart, exploding into an array of erratic electronica that comes as the realisation of this fruitless relationship finally hits home.
“If You Could Have It All Again” is out April 16th via Emotional Interference.
