Berlin-based Olivia Void delivers a scintillating beast of a track with ‘Glory to Glory’.
Having seasoned her voice throughout her university years in Berlin and Madrid, it’ll come as no surprise that Void’s vocals are beyond enchanting, working wonders throughout the near seven minutes of ‘Glory to Glory’. Taken from her upcoming “Physical” EP, the track is an alluring folk piece. Rooted in human physicality and the high and lows that come with it, Void breaks down the structures of folk songwriting and completely rewrites them.
Repeatedly rising into momentous crescendos that brings about the euphoric nature of Mt. Wolf, before descending into deep bellowing pits, equally stern and pensive in tone, ‘Glory to Glory’ captures the ebb and flow of everyday life beautifully. Amalgamating the eccentric nature of Black Country, New Road, with the soulfulness of Laura Marling excellently, Void’s work on her latest single is a moment you should allow yourself to truly take in and appreciate.
