Birmingham artist SIPHO. shared his debut release under Dirty Hit, with double single ‘MOONLIGHT PT. 1+2’.
Describing his music as industrial soul, Sipho. creates the perfect juxtaposition between ‘MOONLIGHT PT. 1+2’, delivering trap-inspired hip-hop with uber heavy bass on ‘PT. 1’ and silk smooth R’n’B on ‘PT. 2’. SIPHO. said about ‘MOONLIGHT’, “I love human fluidity. We’re fluid as fuck. I wanna celebrate my multiplicity and that of the brothers in my environment, cos they deserve to be recognised for more than one side of them.”
‘PT. 1’ with its off the cuff delivery sounds like a Death Grips track backed onto a piece of smooth soul, raw and unfiltered and coming straight from the heart. Whereas ‘PT. 2’ captures the aftermath of ‘PT. 1’ when thoughts have been gathered, emotions aren’t on high yet Sipho.’s words strike even sharper than before, matching the levels of Frank Ocean, Giveon or Sampha at their best.
