South London’s Tiiva embraces loneliness on their new single ‘LOVESICK’.
Inspired by the sudden loneliness brought upon the world during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, non-binary artist Tiiva focuses on how this prolonged isolation forced them to begin renewing their relationship with themselves on ‘LOVESICK’. Utilising euphoric synth-scapes to elevate their message of hope, ‘LOVESICK’ ascends into futuristic electro-pop, reaching past the erraticism of hyper-pop and delivering a message of prosperity and reassurance in a world that still feels uncertain and on the edge.
Tiiva explained ‘LOVESICK’ in greater detail in the following letter:
“We all lost something during the last year, we were all heartbroken. ‘Lovesick’ came out of the loneliest space, even writing this almost a year later feels so soon. To be without the people we were closest to and loved, was one of the hardest things we have had to endure. Naturally, I crumbled, and whilst I was crumbling, I wrote this song. The euphoria in it came from hope, not attaching to the reality of what was happening, a love letter that deep down I knew would never be returned. The result has been to learn, and for that, I am forever grateful. To be lonely and to face ourselves… This time changed us and now we’re already looking back wondering how it all happened. This letter is for you, to read and know that you are not alone, there is someone out there for you and you really are loved.”
