Mackenzie Scott AKA Torres is back with a new album called “Thirstier”, sharing the lead single ‘Don’t Go Puttin Wishes In My Head’.

Accompanied by a music video featuring Scott and her partner, the painter Jenna Gribbon, the couple are a sharp reminder that as cute as it might be to grab your partner from behind, please don’t it while they’re wielding a knife. Moving on from the PSA, the song itself is a delightful combination of ’80s synth-pop meets indie rock delights, leading to a true powerhouse of a single that feels powerful, unflinchingly positive and assertively queer AF. Speaking about her new single, Scott shared: “I’ve been conjuring this deep, deep joy that I honestly didn’t feel for most of my life,” says Scott. “I feel like a rock within myself. And I’ve started to feel that I have what it takes to help other people conjure their joy, too.” Listen to “Don’t Go Puttin Wishes In My Head” and check out the tracklist for the album below.
“Thirstier” is out July 30th on Merge Records.
