The Atlanta-based group have shared news of their upcoming debut LP “Inside Every Fig Is A Dead Wasp”, with the release of their latest single ‘Mold’.
Following their previous track ‘Shrug’, the Atlanta group continue to deliver their take on psych-pop, this time turning the synths up and slowing down the pace just enough for a brooding love song. Songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Grace Repasky says the song is about “…navigating the oddities and strange tides of West Coast culture, specifically L.A., and influencer lifestyle for the first time. We played a festival out there and it felt like I was in an immersive Instagram advertisement. It kind of freaked me out. To make it all more confusing, the song also deals with having feelings for someone wrapped up in that culture and the conflicting feelings of wanting to fit in.”
With a dose of dream-rock delivered via a massive swooping riff on the track’s chorus, Lunar Vacation perfectly toe the line between psychedelic and indie-pop, capturing the charm of Alvvays and Japanese Breakfast.
“Inside Every Fig Is A Dead Wasp” is due October 29th on Keeled Scales.
