By this, I mean once the moment Say What breaks into a bursting ball of post-indie pop energy, an elongated “what”, is the only reaction you’ll have, followed by a quick yeah and then wherever your body takes you.
It may seem at first, that for newcomers to LIF, Say What is just another quirky indie track, with a flared acoustic guitar. For previous listeners, the surprise doesn’t come in LIF’s break from the acoustic in Say What, but rather more, the presence of an acoustic guitar.
Either way, LIF’s diversion of acoustic rhythms, that convert into thumping electronic beats, which sound like a reincarnation of early Yeasayer work, is simply not to be missed out. Get freaked out and dance.
